BPAro is intended for use by healthcare professionals on their patients. Only qualified medical specialists can interpret and evaluate the data findings. Under the supervision of a medical professional, the equipment can be used by most individuals. BPAro's design intends to be handy and easy to use, and healthcare professionals can use one BPAro device multiple times for multiple patients. The app stores results for patients separately from one another.

An individual could also purchase this device to use for their family members. However, individuals should NOT interpret and analyze the data and results from the reports themselves. A physician needs to be provided with the report to determine its meaning.

The app is accessible on the Apple Store/Google app store and online at https://portal.bparo.com/ The software is free to download, but an account must be created for it, which requires a subscription.

The diagnosis and treatment of hypertension and hypotension are essential issues. Research shows that ABPM is much superior to other test devices available to practitioners. Some diagnostic information cannot be measured by blood pressure monitors used in clinics or at home, including:

  • Blood pressure variations and more accurate real-time blood pressure measurement
  • Over night changes in blood pressure (dipper status)
  • Morning blood pressure increases

The device turns on the device by pressing the button On/OFF button available on the device.

To assign a patient to a device in the BPAro app, firstly turn on Bluetooth on your phone and connect the BPAro device to the app. Then click on assign device from the options that appear. Lastly, select any patient from the list. After this you can choose the sleep start time and end time, then click submit.

Firstly, open the BPAro mobile app. Secondly, click on the ‘Reports’ option from the bottom menu and then click on the patient to see their reports. With the BPAro device and mobile application you can easily access the patient report anytime and from anywhere.

For added security benefits and to best ensure your medical reports are accessed only by your selected staff, BPAro comes with 2-factor authentication. Simply open the mobile application, then go to the bottom menu where you can select more options. You can enable and disable the 2-Factor Authentication option on the top.

To track a device, begin by opening the app. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone. Click on the ‘scan device’ option from the home screen. A list of devices will be shown.

The app is free to download but a subscription must be purchased in order to use the app.

Absolutely! You can create as many patient profiles as you would like on the BPAro app. The device is intended to be reused over and over again, but can only be used on one patient at a time. If you have multiple patients who you would like to be tested at the same time, you can always purchase another BPAro device to connect to your account.

If you are having issues syncing the data or assigning data to a patient, first ensure that the BParo device is turned on and that it is connected via Bluetooth. Try closing and re-opening the app. Check with the app store to ensure that there are no new updates for the app. Try clicking Sync the Data again.

Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM)

A 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor, such as the BPAro, is a small digital device worn on the body for 24 hours. It measures ambulatory blood pressure – your blood pressure at specific intervals across time as you participate in your routine activities.

This type of test provides information about an individual’s blood pressure during their daily life. It is typically used to confirm a diagnosis of hypertension (high blood pressure). However, other reasons for this testing include monitoring individuals with diagnosed hypertension or those close to the threshold for hypertension, monitoring individuals after medication changes, or monitoring individuals who have frequent fainting episodes or hypotension (low blood pressure).

Blood pressure is the amount of force against your artery walls as your heart pumps blood throughout the body. Systolic blood pressure is the measurement of this force each time the heart beats, and the diastolic is the measure of this force in between each heartbeat. High blood pressure occurs when too much pressure in your blood vessels can lead to severe issues such as heart attack, stroke, and heart failure. It is the most common type of cardiovascular disease.

To be tested, an individual must visit their doctor or a cardio clinic. These tests require special devices and are not necessary for all individuals. Speaking to a healthcare practitioner will help determine if this test is appropriate for you.

Testing is done by wearing the BPAro, an Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitor – a small digital device worn with a belt connected to a cuff around your upper arm. This device monitors your blood pressure across time while moving and participating in your routine activities. Usually, the cuff measures your blood pressure once every 30 minutes.

Although your doctor can take your blood pressure reading in a doctor’s office, it only provides insight into your blood pressure at a single point during the day. Using the BPAro, doctors can gain a much better understanding of your blood pressure over a day. Depending upon the interval set in-between measurements, the doctors can get up to 72 measurements!

The cuff will sit on the upper bicep of your arm (the same level as your heart) against bare skin. The rubber tube should exit the top of the cuff – if the tube is exiting through the top of the cuff, remove the cuff, flip it 180˚ and put your arm back through. The cuff should fit snug to the arm so as not to move around, but not be too tight/uncomfortable.

You should wear the BPAro device for the entire 24 hours - unless you are showering. The device should be worn while sleeping, to ensure you do not have nocturnal hypertension, but can be removed if necessary. In these cases, you can turn off and remove the device temporarily. Remember to put the machine back on when you wake up or are dried off from your shower. The monitor should not come into contact with water.

You can participate in light exercise while wearing the BPAro device. If participating in rigorous exercises, you should remove the device temporarily. The monitor should not come into contact with water. If swimming, please remove the device or arrange to swim another day.

The doctor will transfer the information collected from the BPAro onto the BPAro app’s secure cloud storage. Software will analyze the readings and produce visual and numerical results, which your healthcare professional can interpret for you.

Tech Support

In a clinical setting, blood pressure is typically only measured once or twice by the healthcare practitioner. However, this may not provide an accurate understanding of a patient’s blood pressure. Individuals may have white coat hypertension (WCH) or masked hypertension, where their blood pressure appears higher than normal or appears normal when typically high, respectively.

BPAro ambulatory blood pressure monitor provides far more insight into the fluctuations and stability of a patient’s blood pressure, as it collects data over a 24 hour period (typically). The monitor collects blood pressure measurements at timed intervals resulting in far more measurements than can be collected in a clinical setting. Additionally, wearing a 24 hour monitor can help with diagnosing patients who have WCH or masked hypertension accurately. Thus, improving their health outcomes.
